
After successfully winning a tender, your owners, Agnes Weninger and György Gunst
took over this space on the ground floor of a heritage building, once an 18th century monastery,
and brought it to life in May of 2000.
They have worked hard to put their special signature on both the cuisine and the décor,
and to make their mark in the historic Castle district and indeed in the gastronomic life of Budapest.
György, your Chef, brings his experience from the hallowed halls of the famous Gundel Restaurant
and from the Hotel InterContinental, as well as several shorter stints abroad in Switzerland,
India and South Africa.
This is combined with Agnes' experience in Canada managing many types of foodservice establishments,
as well as her own restaurant/ lakeside country Inn, and learnings from extensive travels throughout
the world. György is not your typical Chef. An avid antique collector and classical music
buff his interests range far and wide. Agnes has many altruistic interests, and serves on the
Board of Trustees of a number of charitable organizations.
The restaurant regularly provides in-kind contributions and dinner donations, and has participated
in fundraising for the Terry Fox Foundation and the Budapest Festival Orchestra Foundation.
